Grand Cayman - May 15-20, 2007

the Wedding

May 18th, 2007 on Seven Mile Beach Grand Cayman

The wedding was all that Jon & kim could have asked for.  It was a beautiful day and clouds threatened near the time of the ceremony, but it never rained.

After getting married by reverend Godrey Meghoo, everyone took advantage of the scenery at the beach and a few other locations around the Ritz to take some pictures.

Pictures were followed by a fantastic dinner in a private dining room at the restaurant Blue.

When Jon & Kim got back to their penthouse room, they were greeted with rose petals all over the floor and bed, along with another bottle of champagne.  And as a final touch the sheets were arranged in the shape of a heart with two giant swans, made out of towels, kissing on the bed.

Around the island

We spent a lot of time at the hotel pool and beach.  We went sailing, scuba diving, sea kayaking, and snorkeling.  Just off shore from the Ritz are a couple great reefs where we saw sea turtles, eagle rays, barracuda, pods of squid, and tons of colorful fish.

Everywhere we went we had great meals.  It seemed we couldn't miss with the service, the food, and the views.

As a bonus we found out that the 2007 NFL QB Challenge was being held in the Cayman Islands.  Not only did we get to go to the challenge, but Jesse Palmer and Michael Vick attended the wedding.  Actually, Jesse watched from the beach and Vick from his 3rd floor balcony.  Also at our hotel was Chad Johnson, Brandon Lloyd, Brad Johnson, and ESPN's Trey Wingo.  Trey and his wife sat next to us at Dinner our final night and Brandon Lloyd and Trey Wingo sat across from Jon on the plane.

On the last full day we hired a private charter on a 43ft yacht to go snorkeling and to Stingray City where we swam with and fed stingrays, sharks, and eels.

Right before bed on our last night everyone met in Jon & Kim's room for champagne and the remaining wedding cake.  We were treated to a great fireworks display on the balcony that illuminated the hotel and the Caribbean sea.  A great send off.
